Plumbing Technology
Students in the Plumbing Technology program learn how to design, 安装, and repair residential and commercial plumbing systems and hydronic 加热 systems. Some of the skills acquired are joining different types of piping materials, reading blueprints, and 安装ing and repairing boilers, plumbing fixtures, 水龙头, and water heaters.
就业 opportunities in the plumbing and pipe-fitting industries include the 安装ation of plumbing and 加热 systems in new buildings and the 安装ation and maintenance of plumbing, 加热, and piping systems for industries, 公用事业, or government agencies. Self-employment is another option. Many graduates become self-employed plumbers after completing their apprenticeships.
Program Objectives
A graduate of this program will be able to do the following:
- 应用 safety principles and demonstrate good work habits in the trade.
- Use the hand and power tools of the trade.
- Identify piping materials and 安装 them using proper connections.
- Use and apply trade terms and technical data.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes as they apply to the trade.
制定 估计,计算, and use mathematical skills as required in the trade.- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing, 加热, and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the field.
- Demonstrate the ability to write letters of application, 备忘录, 工作指令, 报告, and apply communication skills in the world of work.
